They also have another business,Pumehana Productions where wtheye, along with our partner and good friend Susie Kagami of Hawaii Music Live produce and promote Hawaiian music concerts, workshops, and private lessons with legends like Herb Ohta,Jr, Ohta-San, George Kahumoku, Jr, Keoki Kahumoku, and Nathan Aweau. So with the encouragement and support of Susie, Herb, Jr and their other good friend, Jim Nagareda of Nikkei Traditions, they opened our door on September 5, 2008. They wanted more than just a ‘ukulele store. We wanted a place where people could come in, check out all the different styles, makers, and most importantly, be able to play them and hear what they actually sound like before making a purchase. They carry what they feel are the best ‘ukuleles to fit any pocketbook.

(from their site) - Jim Beloff is the author of The Ukulele-A Visual History (Backbeat Books) and author, compiler and publisher of the popular Jumpin' Jim's series of ukulele songbooks. This series has sold over 200,000 copies and is distributed by the Hal Leonard Corp. Jim has also recorded two CDs of original songs performed on the ukulele (Jim's Dog Has Fleas and For The Love Of Uke), produced Legends Of Ukulele, a CD compilation for Rhino Records, and made two how-to-play DVDs for Homespun Tapes entitled The Joy Of Uke #1 and #2. Most recently he released The Finer Things, a recording of sixteen songs he collaborated on with ukulele master, Herb Ohta. In 1999 Jim and his family introduced a new, colorful and low-cost ukulele called the FLUKE (and in 2003 the smaller FLEA uke) that have won admirers all over the world. In six years over 20,000 FLUKE and FLEA ukuleles have been sold. In November 1999 he premiered his Uke Can't Be Serious concerto for ukulele and symphony orchestra. It was commissioned and performed with the Wallingford (Connecticut) Symphony. In 2002 Jim and his wife, Liz, were lead consultants on Ukulele Fever at the Stamford (CT.) Museum. This exhibit was the first museum show to explore the full history of the ukulele. Their company, Flea Market Music, is dedicated to the ukulele and they believe very strongly that "Uke Can Change The World." Noel is a lifelong music lover. She played and sang in elementary, junior and senior high school band, orchestra and chorus prior to attending Texas Woman’s University as music major. In addition to her major emphasis of classical guitar, she was awarded a stage band music scholarship for her work with the TWU Serenaders as a guitar and bass player.

(from their site) - From the beginning.....GuitarSam (originally called Play It Again Sam) opened March 4, 1981 in Montpelier, VT, which is the smallest capitol city in the United States, and the only state capitol without a McDonalds. We started out in 360 square feet of retail space, and four years later moved into 750 square feet. Eighteen months after that we knocked out a wall leading to an adjacent store and doubled our showroom area, and also added additional space for warehousing. (We performed this project at night so our landlord wouldn't suspect anything) Today we enjoy about 2000 square feet of retail, repair, and office space.
