While My Guitar Gently Weeps is a song written by George Harrison of The Beatles for their double album The Beatles (also known as The White Album).
The song was ranked #135 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 greatest songs of all time and #7 on their list of the 100 greatest guitar songs of all time.
Inspiration for the song came to Harrison when reading the I Ching, which, as he put it, "seemed to me to be based on the Eastern concept that everything is relative to everything else...opposed to the Western view that things are merely coincidental."[5] Taking this idea of relativism to his parents’ home in northern England, Harrison committed to write a song based on the first words he saw upon opening a random book. Those words were “gently weeps”, and he immediately began the song. As he said:
"I wrote "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" at my mother's house in Warrington. I was thinking about the Chinese I Ching, the Book of Changes... The Eastern concept is that whatever happens is all meant to be, and that there's no such thing as coincidence - every little item that's going down has a purpose.
"While My Guitar Gently Weeps" was a simple study based on that theory. I decided to write a song based on the first thing I saw upon opening any book - as it would be a relative to that moment, at that time. I picked up a book at random, opened it, saw 'gently weeps', then laid the book down again and started the song."
For the slash chords, the Am/G, Am/F# and Am/F. You can just stick with the basic Am chords. The note after the slash is a descending bass line that we can not get in a ukulele with a high fourth string.

Fingerings are not shown. Any fingering would only be a recommended fingering and not mandatory. For many chords there are alternate fingerings, with any particular fingering dependent how the chord is being used in relationship to its previous chord and the next chord.
A guide to reading a `ukulele chord diagram is available right here on my site.
Alternate voicings for all of these chords are available and should be explored.

The chords names for the intro are sometimes shown in sheet music as: Am Am/G D9/F# Fmaj7. I've even seen Am Am/G F#m7b5 Dm7/F. The tonality of those four measures is an Am chord with a descending bass line A G F# F and back to Am. The song House of the Rising Sun has this same type of progression. This makes it a little easier to remember and transpose to different keys.
||:Am | Am/G | Am/F# | Am/F | Am | G |
1) | D | E :||
2) | C | E ||
A I bVII IV V and the second ending is a bIII V.
A | C#m | F#m | F#m | Bm | Bm | E | E ||
This is a IIII VI III II V [1 3 6 3 2 5] progression. Learning and song by the chords harmonic function in the progressions help in transposing to other keys. And, is easier to remember as there really are not that many different progression out their.
Line 3, measure 3 the last chord needs to be a different voicing than the low "G", C tuning version.
All notation should be used as a guideline, not a literal transcription of a performance. Make the performance your own. Each time I play this song it is a little different.
