Students make paper Flat Stanleys and begin a journal with him for a few days. Then Flat Stanley and the journal are sent to another school where students there treat Flat Stanley as a guest and complete the journal. Flat Stanley and the journal are then returned to the original sender. Students can plot his travels on maps and share the contents of the journal. Often, a Flat Stanley returns with a pin or postcard from his visit. Some teachers prefer to use e-mail only, and this is noted in the List of Participants. Especially creative hosts send the Flat Stanleys back with pictures, souvenirs, stories and reminders of the visit.

The Flat Stanley Project is a penpal activity- but it's far more than that, too. By sending a Flat Stanley it's as if the senders and the recipients have a mutual friend- a little flat guy they can both talk about.

The Green Party decision making body is the National Committee, composed of delegates from each accredited state party. State NC representatives and other committee participants are chosen by each state party.

The Green Party of the United States was formed in 2001 as a reincarnation of the older Association of State Green Parties (1996-2001). Our initial goal was to help existing state parties grow and to promote the formation of parties in all 51 states and colonies. Helping state parties is still our primary goal.

As the Green Party National Committee we will devote our attention to establishing a national Green presence in politics and policy debate while continuing to facilitate party growth and action at the state and local level.

Green Party growth has been rapid since our founding in 2001 and Green candidates are winning elections throughout the U.S. In 2004, the Green Party National Convention nominated David Cobb and Pat LaMarche for the Green Presidential ticket.

We are grassroots activists, environmentalists, advocates for social justice, nonviolent resisters and regular citizens who've had enough of corporate-dominated politics.

His most popular and best selling books include "Hyperspace: A Scientific Odyssey Through Parallel Universes, Time Warps and the Tenth Dimension" and "Visions: How Science Will Revolutionize the 21st Century", which have been widely translated in different languages. His recent book "Parallel Worlds: a Journey Through Creation, Higher Dimensions, and the Future of the Cosmos," was selected as a finalist for the Samuel Johnson Prize for Non-Fiction in the UK (the rough equivalent of the Pulitzer Prize) and also a finalist for the Aventis Science Book Prize (UK).

Today, Dr. Michio Kaku holds the Henry Semat Professorship in Theoretical Physics at the City University of New York (CUNY), where he has taught for over 25 years.

Dr. Kaku hosts a weekly syndicated radio program, "Explorations in Science," which is a production of station WBAI-FM in New York City, a Pacifica owned station. Scott reinvented book publishing when he released EarthCore as the world's first "podcast-only" novel. Released in twenty weekly episodes, EarthCore harkened back to the days of serialized radio fiction and picked up 10,000 subscribers along the way.

His next podcast novel, Ancestor , drew 30,000 listeners and saw 700,000 episodes downloaded by fans. The Ancestor buzz caused Sirius Satellite to pick up the novel, making it the first audiobook serialized on the satellite network. Combined with Scott's other two podcast novels, Infection and The Rookie, Scott's fans have downloaded over 3 million files of his fiction.

ARTIST SUBMISSIONS - PLEASE- Read This Before You Send In Your CD/Press Kit

Dear Fellow Artists,

I created the live audience, multi-media event of WOODSONGS on the belief that grassroots artists, collectively, had an audience bigger than Garth Brooks and Bruce Springsteen. Think of it - thousands of musicians, songwriters, bands and folkies travel the earth searching for their audience, making a living and selling their CD's. The only thing missing was a global stage that would introduce these hard working artists to the huge audience that was obviously supporting all of them. Woodsongs exists on the principal that the audience cares. The audience is interested. And the audience will always respond to good art.

Artists are chosen to appear on our stage are selected because they are good. End of story. Fame, commercial success or lack there-of, who you know, who you opened for, whether you are on a label or are releasing your own CD, what famous artist used the same mixing board you recorded your latest CD on and who manages you means NOTHING.

I say it often on the show and I mean it, "You don't have to be Famous to be on WoodSongs . . . you have to be Good!"

Keep in mind that WoodSongs is NOT a concert. Several hundred people are in our theatre to WATCH a radio show get produced. The show is equally divided between two artists, giving each artist three on-air song performances. Song lengths, to be fair, need to be about 3 1/2 minutes long. WoodSongs is an acoustic performance program mixed with conversation. BILLBOARD MAGAZINE described the show as "A Prairie Home Companion meets Conan O'Brien." If you are not familiar with our show, we encourage you to visit our archives and listen to an on-line broadcast before submitting.

One more thing: We don't pay you anything.

I don't get a penny for this. Our chief engineer Kevin Johnson, the 32 member WoodSongs Crew and the cyber-dude who built this website aren't paid anything either. A local hotel will put you up for free, local restaurants will feed you and our show goes out free-of-charge to radio. You can sell your CDs to the audience after the show and we will even help you do that. Most importantly, however, you will be introducing your music and your art to over 1,100,000 radio listeners on 460+ radio stations in many countries... plus global internet, full online archiving, podcasting and now national television.

The WOODSONGS OLD TIME RADIO HOUR is a global, artist-driven coffeehouse that is reaching out to the HUGE grassroots music audience.
