A satin Bower bird
(male) above

TOTALLY random stuff I've collected on the web and doesn't have a place in the jazz guitar, ukulele or main publishing pages on the site.

I remember seeing a this bird on TV years ago. And, it stuck with me. Some of the strangest things get into ones's long term memory. Good for Trivial Pursuit but not much more.

Just like the Bower bird that collects a variety of objects like shells, leaves, flowers, feathers, stones, berries, and even discarded plastic items. A bower's U-shaped nest, a structure of sticks and leaves can include hundreds of these objects. The bird will spend hours carefully sorting and arranging his collection, with each thing in a specific place.

All of this to attract the female Bower bird. The things we do!!!

(from their site) The International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) was founded in 1988 by a group of California mountain bike clubs concerned about the closure of trails to cyclists. These pioneering clubs believed that mountain biker-education programs and innovative trail management solutions should be developed and promoted. While this first wave of threatened trail access was concentrated in California, IMBA's pioneers saw that crowded trails and trail-user conflict were fast becoming worldwide recreation issues. This is why they chose "International Mountain Bicycling Association" as the organization's name.

Fat Tire Flyer

(from their site) The FAT TIRE FLYER started in 1980, almost accidentally, as a club newsletter published by Denise Caramagno and myself. The newsletter outlived the club by seven years, and until 1985 it was the only publication for mountain bikers. I loved my magazine, and it was by far the most creative and artistic accomplishment I have had. During the time the magazine was published, I wrote much of it (using several names), took photos, handled the layout and the printing, edited submissions, accepted subscriptions and handled the mailing list. Publication ceased in 1987.

Editor: Some where I have some of these original issues.
